Early Winter's Ins and Outs
The Ins
Jackson had a dry spell after the first week of December. With unsavory snow waiting outside, I went looking for fun to be had indoors.
Ben Johnson helped me while an evening away with bluegrass and Yahtzee, Chris kept me in shape in his Garage, and Emily reminded me of the secret to flight.
Chris, his wife Barbara and I all caught the highly-toted Avalanche Awareness night, where lots of people pretended they understood graphs like this.
The Outs
Then, the snow came back.
I spent a few different days at the resort with Bre, Jeremy, Reid, and Lindsey, who spent the weekend playing around Jackson with me. Lindsey, Chris and I also got out to Grand Targhee.
One day at JHMR in particular was outrageous: at 3pm, I was getting untracked laps down chutes, face shots the whole way.
Lindsey and I hopped the bus to Ranch Lot feeling pretty accomplished that day.
As far as non-resort fun goes, Chris and I got out to Stealth Bowl in West Mail Cabin. The snow was deep, the day was great. I didn't get to work until 4.
After a big dump (the one that gave me face shots at the resort) we did a repeat trip to Mt. Oliver. The route up was terribly wind-effected. Our first run on a South-East aspect was fun, riding cream over mellow slopes. The ride out Stateline Canyon? Not so fun.
It was our first bluebird day though. I'd never before seen the Grand from Teton Pass.
Oh, did I mention I got a new camera for Xmas? Thanks Ma 'n Pa. Hope it ends up being a gift to yourselves as well :)
