A conversation I had today has me thinking about how "climbing" and "skiing" are sort of misnomers for the things I do. When I go skiing, I'm slogging for hours through snow and ice to get a few minutes of riding down. When I'm climbing, most of the day passes between attempts, not while I'm on the rock.
I love the between times, the times when I'm not skiing and I'm not climbing. They're the times I'm bantering with friends, catching up on their lives, and getting to see their love for me - and each other.
I love these excuses to be outside with my loved ones.
