We all track time a little differently, our work or school routines clueing us in to time's steady passage. I count backwards in time remembering climbing days and rest days, my temporal placement rooted in the reference of the last passing storm or last day I saw a friend's smile before our adventures took us separate ways.
Tracking time through longer phases is hard though. You have to get creative.
Q: When did I leave Laramie? When did this trip begin?
A: Ten pounds of deli meats ago.
I stocked up at the local coop as my last errand before hitting the road, and yesterday the final slice went into my compadre's mouth. I'm not sure what that is in weeks though....
